Must Have

Maternity bag checklist

No one wants to be packing for the hospital at the last minute, especially if your baby decides to make an appearance any earlier. So, it’s worth having your hospital bag organized and packed at 37/38 weeks -just in case. Keep the hospital bag in a handy place, such as your hallway coat closet or the trunk of your car. We have compiled a list of most commonly needed and recommended items to put in your bag.

Keep in mind that only some items on this list are essential such as your carseat; others are simply items to make you feel more comfortable.

Let us not forget a number of other musts that will make the birthing experience a lot more comfortable:

  • Your slippers
  • Towels
  • Basic toiletries
  • Baby’s going home outfit
  • Long cell phone charging cord
  • Tablet/Ipad/Book
  • Favourite pillow
  • Postpartum diapers/C Section underwear
  • Peri bottle, ice maxi pads
  • Snacks, drinks
  • Your partner’s clothing and toiletries

Plan in advance for your arrival home with the baby.  This includes mainly some sort of meal planning such as either meal preparation in advance,  arranging for meal service, and stocking up on basic home items. This is because it may prove difficult to leave the house the first few days while you are all settling in and not sleeping much.

And depending on your birthing experience you may find that some of the items proved to be extremely useful and some you didn’t have the need for.  But still, better to be super prepared.
