Stress free mornings with the kids

Do you find yourself always rushing, huffing and puffing in the mornings to get everyone out the door? Most parents experience high stress levels every single morning just to avoid being late for school and work. It most certainly can be a mission and it involves a lot of planning ahead of time.  Some of the helpful tips here might help with your next morning’s ordeal.

  1. Do you handle the outfits the night before? This is a must as it is known to take up a lot of time in the morning to get the kids to agree to wear what you have selected. This way you involve them in the planning outfits before bed the night before; you check the weather, talk about ideas and together choose an outfit. Probably a good idea you do the same for yourself as it can also be a timely process to select your clothes when you are rushing in the morning.

2. Do you make lunches the night before? Probably will shave off at least 15 minutes of your time in the morning if you prep lunches ahead of time. And involve the kids, have them put food in their lunch boxes, choose their snacks, fruits, etc, even help making their sandwiches. In the morning al that needs to be done is to place the lunch boxes in their backpacks.

3. WAKE UP before the kids!! Give yourself at least 15 minutes to half an hour of alone time to meditate, exercise, take deep breaths. Before the commotion begins. This will help you stay stress free and calm through the process, and remain focused so nothing is forgotten.

4. DO not allow the ticking clock to cause you to yell. In essence, we are our children’s role models and they observe us in all we do. After all, we would not want them to implement that and learn to deal that way in stressful situations. Because remember, no matter how much planning you may do, each day is a new battle, new scenarios and things may not at all go the way they were planned. Pick your battles!
